Informal Friday Seminar

Title: What is a mixed Hodge module?

Speaker: Dougal Davis, The University of Melbourne

Abstract: Classical Hodge theory uses analysis to endow the cohomology of a complex variety with an additional “Hodge structure”. This turns out to have profound consequences in algebraic geometry and beyond. Saito’s theory of mixed Hodge modules upgrades this from cohomology to sheaves. In this talk, I’ll explain the rudiments of this theory, and indicate some of the things you can do with it.

Details: The Informal Friday Seminar is a space where members of our research group can explain interesting things to each other in a casual setting. The rules of the seminar are the following: Any question/additional explanation from the audience is allowed. Ego out the window. Examples, examples, examples. If you would like to join the mailing list or contribute a talk, please email finn.klein@sydney.edu.au.
